This handcrafted clay lip plate originates from the Mursi tribe of Ethiopia’s Omo Valley, where lip plates are a deeply rooted cultural tradition. Made from clay and shaped by hand, the plate is traditionally worn during important cultural moments and symbolizes beauty, strength, and social status within the community. Each plate is unique, often displaying subtle variations in shape and texture that highlight the individuality of its wearer. This piece has some chipping throughout but is still in good overall condition.
